Assignment # 6 The Structure of the Federal Government

Have you ever followed a road map? How about reading directions on baking a cake?, or building or putting together some object? You have... right?


OK on this assignment, we are going to complete an organizational "flow chart" on the structure of the Federal Government of Canada. The idea of a "flow chart," gives the reader a picture representation of the government organization. It tells us the components of the government, and who "reports to whom."



There are 10 components of the chart. It all starts with the Federal government at the top. Then there are 3 branches of organization, "branching" off of it. Then, off the 3 branches are 3 on the left, 2 in the middle and 1 on the right.



1.) "Federal Government" is the title "box"


Remember, this is an organizational chart, and it represents who "works together," and "who reports to whom." Info should be available on line, but is also available from two charts in your class textbook, on Canadian History. (Now a note of caution...the two charts from the text must be used, and you must use some common sense to accurately fill out this flow chart. That means you can't copy it directly out of the text, as it would be incorrect. )Good Luck!


Here is what you have to put in each of those boxes. Place the following into the correct areas.


Judicial, Prime Minister, Governor General, Cabinet, Supreme Court, Senate, and House of Commons.


Remember......"who works with who" and who reports to whom, or is under what "above branch" in the flow chart.


Wow!!!.... Does this sound confusing? You not only have to follow the above directions, you have to do research, and then complete the chart according to the two clues provided.
